Oral Surgery

Tuesday we headed do the dentist bright and early at 6am. Brent took off the day so he could come with us. I had been telling Jackson about what was going to happen and he seemed very calm. I think I was a little more nervous than he was. When we got there they had Jackson pick out a teddy bear to have. He picked a cranberry one and wouldn't let go of it. We were led to a private "recovery" room where we would wait for Jackson. First a nurse spoke with us about how everything was going to happen- than the anesthesiologist came in - and last the dentist came in and discussed the procedure. The nurse explained that we wouldn't be allowed to go back there- Jackson is very shy, and has some separation issues- every sunday we fight him just to go to his own class. So without further adue, the nurse took him and his bear( him kicking and screaming on the way). His cry faded as they got further back into the office. I will admit I cried, and was a nervous wreck.
They gave him a little bit of laughing gas that put him to sleep, they put an i/v/ in that administered medicine, and something to keep him asleep. He was given a breathing tube (horrifies me thinking about it!- this is the image I had in my mind the hour waiting) The dentist discussed taking both front teeth out but we asked that if the xray's showed that the second tooth was not decaying that he leave it.
After an hour, the dentist came in and said Jackson was waking up and he gave us the tooth. He told us he had filled 3 small cavaties that showed on xray, and that the other tooth looked great and only pulled the one!
They wheeled him in on a gurney, he was crying and disoriented. I held him for a while, than he just wanted to lay on the couch. He kept asking for his red bear. The nurse brought it in a few min later, but that is the only thing he wanted. He slowly came out of it and we headed home. On the way he started crying that he wanted his teeth back. (as you see him putting is tongue in the empty space) He fell asleep.

Once home he started acting a little normal, you could tell he was still somewhat out of it. If he didn't see the bear he was asking for it. Slowly he got better and started smiling.

As we were putting on his cloths, he saw the bandaid on his arm. I said "Whats that?!!" really confused. I took it off and he saw the bruise and said "Who hurt me?!!!" really sad. I felt so bad, so I explained to him what had happened, (leaving out the needle part).

The rest of the day he was Jackson. He bounced back really fast and once said to me "Mom, I like getting my teeth out".. :) haha silly boy.

He was super excited for the tooth fairy to come. He had seen on a show that the tooth fairy brought lolli-pops. I told him they bring money, but I would write her a letter and ask for one, because it was a special tooth. So this morning he woke up- came into my room and said "is it morning time?" we went back into his room and he looked under his pillow! YAYYY!!! He was so happy. The tooth fairy left this special tooth so he could show everyone it.
We love this little boy a lot. I can't believe how fast he has grown from baby-to toddler- heading to Boy. Love you Jackson James.

Abscess Tooth

Last year toward the end of July- (after going camping at Anderson) Jackson and my dad were playing. Jackson was running around a lot in and out of the room. At one point they were throwing pillows back and forth. Well one time Jackson was running into the room and my dad threw a pillow at him, this time it landed strait at his feet. Jackson tripped and took a bad fall landing face forward into a chair.

His lip took the biggest blow of all, or so it looked that way.  The morning after, he woke up looking like this:

His teeth by the gums were bleeding and I realized that the two front ones were a little loose.
So I took him to the dentist. The dentist said the teeth should firm back up and that they looked ok, but  because they were bleeding and there was a sore behind them, I would need to watch for Abscess and warned that the teeth might turn gray/black. He said this could happen at any time in the years to come. The darkening of the teeth, not a big deal, but abscessing to bring him in.

Jackson had a 6 month cleaning check up in December. They said the teeth were looking good- of coarse darkening but it looked like they would be fine until his permanent teeth came in.

So here we are in January, almost exactly 6 moths later from when it originally happened. His teeth are both dark- and still somewhat loose( I personally don't think him grinding his teeth has helped anything) One is worse than the other. Well the other day I had this feeling to look at his gums. Sure enough  clear as day- there's an abscess.. So I took him in to the dentist. He threw a fit and wouldn't let them take any x-rays (note he hasn't had any x-rays because he's frightened.) Dentist took a look and said the tooth  needs pulled. That its too infected and since it is a baby tooth this is the best. He than went on to suggest getting both front teeth pulled because the other one is starting to turn colors,- so this would prevent future abscessing.

After thinking long about this we are hoping that when they do an xray the roots of the other tooth wont look to bad and we can wait on it being pulled. I've been watching how he eats with his teeth and I would hate for him to not have either teeth. (of coarse the dentist says it will look more "aesthetically pleasing" ) but he's my baby!!
So Jackson is scheduled for an appointment Tuesday the 29th. Pictures and updates to come.

On a side note- I'm OFFICIALLY CAUGHT UP on my blog!!

Missionary Man

So today One of Brent's friends on facebook posted these pics of him from his mission! I love seeing pictures of Brent before we were married because I feel like I never see any! So i'm grateful for the man that posted these, because now our family can enjoy them, and Jackson can see his daddy as a missionary!

Halloween

Starting our year out fun!

We finally got snow!! We were so excited we had to go build a snowman ( little did we know, we'd be getting a TON more and it'd be sticking around for weeks!)
We bought handguns and have been having fun going shooting!

Jackson LOVES his legos. He plays with them almost every day and is becoming quite creative!

We hurried and went sledding in fear of the snow melting. There wasn't much but we had a good time!

Just a week later it snowed even more!

 The boys LOVE the snow!

Just a week or two later we got even more snow! So we had some more fun sledding and playing in it!

We did a little more shooting. This time with Jackson-
Brent helped him shoot our neighbors 22 revolver- He thought it was the coolest thing.

We've had a fun month! Were excited for 2013 and what new adventures and fun it will bring!

Christmas 2012

This was our first year having Christmas on our own, and in our own Home!

Night before Christmas- Bath's and new P.j's

 Santa gifts

I didn't get too many photos, but I know the boys really enjoyed their Christmas presents. We enjoyed our time together, and are so grateful for Jesus Christ in our lives this holiday season.
